Try SCUBA Diving

If you want to try scuba diving, but aren’t quite ready to take the plunge into a certification course, Try Scuba Diving is for you.
​
Try Scuba Diving is a quick and easy introduction to what it takes to explore the underwater world. You learn the basic safety guidelines and skills needed to dive under the direct supervision of an SSI professional.

Duration: 1 day
Dive Type: Cenote / Ocean (if ocean skills in pool 2 dive option available).
No. of dives: 1 or 2
Max Depth: 12 m / 40 feet
Location: Tulum
Prior Experience: No prior experience is required
Things to take into consideration

No prior experience with scuba diving is necessary, but you need to be in reasonably good physical health. Please go through the Medical questionnaire, to make sure your are good to go, Responding "yes" to any of the questions does not mean you can not dive, however, you will need to get clearance from a medical doctor.

Being comfortable in the water is required. ​

To sign up for an SSI Try Dive you must be at least 10 years old

For safety reasons, no cameras (including Go Pros) are allowed on the dives unless operated by an accompanying certified diver.

When planning your dives, please take into account the Diving and flying guidelines. ​

DIVING and FLYING: There is unacceptable risk of decompression sickness when ascending to altitude immediately after diving. For multiple dives (2 or more) you must wait 18 hours before getting onto an airplane. For greater safety we highly recommend 24 hours.
Open Water certification
Full Certification – Open Water divers are certified to dive independently to a maximum depth of 18 meters (60ft).
If you’ve always wanted to take scuba diving lessons, experience unparalleled adventure and see the world beneath the waves. SSI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:​

Knowledge Development (online, independent study) to understand basic principles of scuba diving

Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills.

Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore!

Open Water - Referral
This course allows you to complete all your theory and confined water (pool) modules in your own time before you travel to the Riviera Maya. This option then allows you to complete your open water dives here with us, thus capitalizing on valuable vacation time..

For this option you can use a local dive shop near your home to complete the theory and confined water training. This way, while in Mexico you only need to do 4 Open Water dives to complete your certification.
For this course you’ll need to bring your referral form (this document is valid for 12 months from the date of the last training segment).
You'll be required to do a Quick Review of the theory and "Diver assessment", this is a confined water session where we’ll have you do the basic scuba diving skills before we take you out for your Open Water Training Dives.

Experience: Theory and confined waters skills done back home.
Things to take into consideration

No course can be started with out a filled and signed referral form from your instructor back home.

A referral form is valid for 12 months from the date of the last training segment.

You can start your training with a different diver association and be certified SSI when you finish here with us.

Please note that the certification fee is not included in the price. (It is normally included with your theory).

Scuba Diver certification
Limited certification, SSI Scuba Divers are able to dive to a maximum depth of 12 meters under the direct supervision of a Dive professional - Divemaster or Instructor.

The SSI Scuba Diver Course is the first part of the Open Water Course. When you do a Scuba Diver course you’ll only go through the first three of five chapters for the theory, you’ll do the first three of five confined water dives and complete two of four Open Water Training Dives.
​
To upgrade to the SSI Open Water Diver certification it only takes a further 1 day.
This can be completed at any SSI dive centre worldwide.
